Jackdaw
I can never tell the difference between Ravens Jackdaws and Crows
A fine photo of a great entertainer. He's no singer that's for sure but the way he struts around , head on one side curiously weighing up the world with that inspectors eye mark him out as a true comedian.
I think of him as a sort of miniature monocle wearing penguin.
I love to watch them up on the fells riding on the backs of the sheep , simultaneously joyriding and feasting on tics and fleas. Yes, Jack goes where opportunity knocks.
Thanks for this picture David, it's made me smile.
That stern look makes him ideal as the policeman of the bird world. We will be noticing him more in the garden these days.
He can be seen watching the little birds shaking the seeds on to the ground, then he moves in to mop up before the pigeons have their turn...but he does leave a few seeds for them.
A member of the very clever crow family.
Mick, I have the same problem identifying similar birds. This one could even be a Jilldaw. By the way a good photo David
All members of the Crow family Jackdaw, Rook, Crow, Raven and Magpie. I'm sure i've missed some more.
Arthur - The Jay is also a crow.
Thanks Dave, I knew I missed some!
