Saint John's Methodist Church
Very ornate by Methodists' standards, is it not!
Its a very fancy church for a Methodist.
Most drivers wont notice it as they drive around the roundabout.
Is the nearest lamp post design based on the spire as a compliment? The far lamp post looks to be of the very ordinary type.
Nice piccy.
I have always though how beautiful this church is. You would have to be blind to miss it at all 'going round the roundabout'. It's surprising the foundations haven't been 'rocked' with the amount of traffic that passes by, it's seen so many changes from horse and carts to lorries and buses, even the bus stop is outside ( or it used to be!)
What a good photo. I have always liked Hindley. I have never actually lived in Hindley but have always felt at home there.
This is a beautiful church, and inside it does have a lovely calm feel to it.
The lamp post is the same all the way down Market St, Anne.
The one you see is in Ladies Lane.
Veronica, I presume this is the roundabout at the top of Market St. When I logged onto today's photo I can honestly say my first thought was wherever in Hindley is this? I must have been around that roundabout so many times and never noticed it.
I just think it stands out Derek in that location at the top of Market St and because it is unusual. You will notice it next time I'm sure. I've gone past if for years by bicycle, car and bus!
Thank you Garry. So, will all lamp posts be like that eventually. It's several years since I visited Hindley.
I'm not too sure Anne, I would think just on the high streets.
