Can anyone tell me why they closed Morrisons in Ince? and where is the nearest one now.

Comment by: Gary on 15th January 2020 at 09:46

Brian, I did not realise Morrisons were closing units.
Is there one nearby?
This one looks relatively new.

Comment by: Nick on 15th January 2020 at 10:59

It's obvious why it closed it wasnt profitable

Comment by: Garry on 15th January 2020 at 11:13

The store closed because lack of shoppers.
The nearest Morrisons is in Leigh, near the Sports Village.
I'm sorry to see it shut.

Another supermarket out of the way if you haven't a car! I used to go here every Friday after work, when I did drive. It was ok, with a nice cafe. You could have something to eat and do the weekly shop. But why they had a supermarket at Ince and another in the town centre God knows! I always preferred Morrisons to Tesco's at Hindley. I wonder what will happen to the empty building.

There is one in Chorley

Veronica I can see houses being built there once store gets demolished. It served the people of Ince on the council estate very well.
Kathleen shopping in Chorley is a bit far, especially if you have frozen foods.

It's not that old though the building surely Arthur... Actually it's fancier than what is put up nowadays for supermarkets eg: Tesco's.
Perhaps apartments could be 'cobbled' up out it.

Comment by: Elizabeth on 15th January 2020 at 17:36

Yes,I agree Veronica, much better than Tesco.Cafe always seemed to be busy. They will build houses and then people will need.....another supermarket.

There's Morrisons in most Towns, likewise Tescos and Asda etc.
The Question was from Julie and Gary "is the a Morrisons nearby" and the one closest to INCE is LEIGH store as I said at 11:13.
I need a sherry.

Comment by: Alan on 15th January 2020 at 21:34

We have enough supermarkets, and junk food outlets, ie McDonalds-kentucky etc etc.

Comment by: Mick on 15th January 2020 at 21:54

What put me off from using this Ince store was because I didnt like the look of the people who used the cafe, shopped in there.

Comment by: Veronica on 15th January 2020 at 22:45

Hey up he's back!

Yes Garry after reading most of these comments.I also need a sherry.Or maybe two. Also may I add Coffee Delight has closed in the Grand Arcade. So I may need a third sherry now.Maybe it's a replica of the Galleries.

A rep from Morrison's blamed Aldi and Lidl for its demise. Short term savings, long term losses. I expect Lidl amd Aldi will bang up their prices once they've demolished the opposition.
