Frost Festival
So what happens at a Frost Fair ?
Don't know, all the people are too frosty to talk. The one on the right must be a 'Terminator', look at its feet. :(
There were stalls and amusements, entertainment and music from a disco and the Fat Cat Brass Band. The finale was a pretty good firework display.
Look Out Look out Jack Frost is about
He's after your fingers and toes.
And all through the night, the gay little sprite
Is working where nobody knows.
He'll climb every tree,so nimble is he
his silvery powder he'll shake.
To windows he'll creep, and while your asleep
such wonderful pictures he'll make.
Across the grass,he'll merrily pass
and change it's greenness to white.
Then home he will go, and laugh,ho ho ho!
What fun I have had in the night.
Love the poem, peebee! xx
There used to be Frost Fairs on the Thames when it froze over in the ' Llittle Ice Age'. The river was wider then and because boats couldn't sail with their wares, market stalls were put up and goods sold from them for the Winter months, from the 1680's and up to the 1800's, It's hard to believe but it really happened. If interested there's a lot more to read on Google.
Thanks for that Veronica; Google's Images of 'markets on the frozen Thames'.
A man in Alaska breaks down in his car.
The engineer attends and says
You've blown a seal
No I haven't replies the man indignantly
It's frost on my moustache ;-)
Looks like a scene from Narnia. They might scare little kids!
