Where/What?
Winter Hill tv mast support?.
My dad dug the hole for them when he worked for Leonard Fairclough
It's the Stantion cable holder.
If it is Winter Hill it's not just Wiganers need it ...it's all part of the scenery for miles and miles around.
Are you sure he wasn’t just making a hidey-hole for himself Mick?
I remember Len Fairclough, builder in Coronation Street.
TV mast anchor support wire ropes.
(it has many) At Winter Hill.
Yes Veronica the North-West.

Thank you Veronica, i've not been too well lately x.
All the best Garry.
Hope you are soon on the mend then Garry x
I remember seeing the Leonard Fairclough works yard, it was a long time ago though, I'm sure it could be seen from Wigan Lane (A5106) going to Chorley, so must have been on the A6 going towards Heath Charnock way.
They look in very good condition. It is years since I went up there and they looked rusty.Nice photo Anne
Tommy T. Were I live in Ramsbottom the less said about yon mon who played him the better.
I worked for Leonard Faircloughs when I left school in the early 1970s. Their yard was in Lower Adlington right in the centre with the head office nearby in Chapel St. Leonard Fairclough was still alive and we used to see him being chauffeur driven in his Rolls Royce.
This is where the brain washing comes from friends. Tred carefully all.
I worked for leonard Fairclough also in the early 70s.yes we saw him being chauffeured about to..prob late 80s by then.
