The old lock
Photo: Dave (OY) (Nikon D850 with Nikon 24-70mm F/2.8 )
I would call it a neglected lock
Appley bridge locks are the same
Nice photo Dave. It may be old but it is still holding a lot of water back.
Its been reported that fragments of tinctures, empty Pinot noir bottles, and other assorted flotsam from the missing vessel , the SS Chocolate Bounty have been sighted in this vicinity quite recently. The search continues.
I have just read a book of ghost stories set around old canals, coal-mines and railway lines and can imagine this lock, come midnight, being the setting for one of the stories! Welcome back, Ozy!
Careful Ozy, Alan's come out from under the stairs again.
How old would those lock gates be?
I reckon they're original DTease which would date them from the 1790's
Its the coal hole he comes out of our Alan!
Irene don't start!!! He's always been back under different names.
Sounds like Alan's using another name too!
Nothing to do with me.
I don't hide under different names like some.
