That sundial is wrong.

Went on a guided tour of St Wilfid's during the heritage weekend last September. Absolutely brilliant! The ammount of history attached to this church is fascinating. You just don't realise what is on your doorstep.

I suspect it was just after 10.40 when you took this photo, Rev.

Well if the Church clock is right, then yes Howard.

I worked in Standish at one time so it is a familiar sight. I went to the churchyard some years ago with a dear friend, and the age of some of the gravestones, and the feeling of peace, made it a memorable visit.

Howard you’re a genius.great photo thought that was someone from Dads Army on the right.

Jim it's probably Jonesy about to be hauled out to fix the correct flag to the flag pole! ( or something similar)

Presumably, the sundial is right, and indicating local time, just a few minutes behind GMT, and the clock, one hour ahead of GMT if it is indicating BST.

Looks like a black shadow of a devil on the church stone work, hes got one horn, a mouth, a van dyke beard and a one long slitty eye

Comment by: Rev David Long on 14th January 2018 at 19:14

They're both telling the same time - 10.41 according to my camera clock.
If you look, the shadow is to the left of the white line leading down to XI - and is just before the short line indicating the beginning of the 4th quarter of the hour.
