Where are the gardens ?

Comment by: Anne on 17th November 2017 at 07:53

I'm pretty sure that isn't Spring Gardens, could be Fitzadam street.

Looking back over the years there would be children playing in the street and sometimes mams, dads or grandmas and grandads stood near their front doors - neighbourliness in abundance. They all knew each other then - I bet they do now in that street - I hope so!

This is definitely not Spring Gardens, my Grandparent's used to live at No20 Spring Gardens. Fitzadam St it is on the opposite side.

Do these houses in Spring Gardens, Crook Street, Fitzadam Street and Ivy Street still in council ownership or as I suspect are they now all privately owned.

Wigan Co-op dairy was in Spring Gardens in the 1950’s.

Google Maps Street-view confirms it's Fitzadam St. Incidentally, at least according to Google maps, the name Fitzadam (St) is unique to Wigan!

This is Fitzadam Street. It used to be a neighbourly street. I don't think it is anymore.

Sam h, the name Horace from Dorning Street Alliance rings a far distant bell, did he go to the staff room at the Emporium for lunch.

A very neat street wherever it is, no litter & everything looked after well.
