Photo-a-Day (Tuesday, 17th October, 2017)
All Saints Church
Brilliant shot, that church always looks impressive. I bet you photo shopped the sky though.Eh!
It is such a beautiful church and always a pleasure to see on p-a-d. The young people walking past echo my comments on the recent John Bull Chop-House pic.....what changing fashions the church has seen pass by...from its earliest days, through Victorian sweeping skirts, Edwardian hats, Twenties, Thirties, Wartime make-do-and-mend, Teddy Boys, mini-skirts, flower-power and onwards, and all the time the church watches, permanent and unchanging.
Some things are immovable.
Nice picture.
Photo shopped the sky Derek .Is there any art unsullied by technology?
I get the feeling, elements of
Doubt surround this pic,
As to its authenticity.
That sky, has it been fixed?
I know we don't inhabit
France midi, or islands Greek.
And often, northern latitudes
Experience rain all week.
To me , that blue seems natural though,
There's been no fancy riggin'
I've heard it rumoured, now and then,
The sun shines down on Wiggin.
I can count 6 pieces of litter, I wonder how many more there will after that lot have finished there dinners
Nice one Maurice, litter and folks going into All Saint's Gardens to eat their lunch is Wigan as it is, keep them coming.
If those old stones could speak! I'm sure they would protest loudly at the changes and mourn for what's lost! Nevertheless, the old church still stands sentinel.
Thank's for the comments, there is no shoppery, the Sky was perfect on the day.
Why do they order large cheese burger, double chips and a diet Coke?
Great pic mate :)
What a beautiful church. I agree with you Irene; the church stands like a sentinel over Wigan town centre. If those walls could speak, what tales they would tell.
At 70 years of age, and working full time, I meet and work with young people every day, and I must object to the comment that infers that these youngsters would automatocally drop litter. In my experience, the older generation is equally culpable. It's so easy to blame the youth and so very alienating.
As Maurice clarifies, no shoppery. If you are getting feelings Ozy , I would suggest it would be either your lower end, or as Wesley would no doubt suggest, your water pump needing a new gasket, perhaps both.. i'm just throwing a line out here Ozy. No offence intended on your crank. Mine can work both ways , but only on a good day .
Those cherry trees are stunning when in full bloom but they don't half make it hard to get a good photo of the church.
I apologise if this comment appears more than once.....I typed it out and pressed "submit" and then my computer "died"! My grandchildren, aged 8 and 10, NEVER drop litter, having been taught by example from their parents, who were taught by THEIR parents. It is no use "telling" a child what is right....they have to see YOU do it. I don't know if I will ever see my GREAT- Grandchildren, but I know they will never drop litter in the streets of Wigan or anywhere else.
