Photo-a-Day (Thursday, 13th April, 2017)
Footpath
Oh Memories !!!!! Dean Wood was my boyhood playground in the 1940's and 50's. Of course, there was no motorway bridge in those days. Thank you, Mick, do you have anymore of Dean Wood, particularly inside the wood ?
Alan theres a video here https://youtu.be/Y5OLy-9rW58 that will take from Gathurst up through Dean wood over the golf course to George Lyon grave in Upholland
Sit and watch it with a bottle of corporation pop and a jam butty.
Great photo, Mick.
As a kid we used to walk towards the camera having joined Dean Wood near Abbey Lakes end. We did used to walk into the woods from here also, and I remember the viaduct being built. I posted some black and white pics on WW
The video is fantastic and I hope you enjoyed it also, Alan.
Cheers all.
Great picture Mick.

Thanks Mick, we used to camp where the
Dougie turned to the wood. Previous campers, would leave fire lighters and stuff for the next ones, which always impressed me. Loved watching the bridge at night and cooking spam , beans , bacon and eggs..
Went down a treat . We collected fresh drinking water left of this picture. Couldn't afford holidays , this was ours. Lovely memories!, Mick, could I download your picture please? Holds lots of memories for me.
No need to ask Brian, BTW what does the G stand for
Thanks Mick, Much appreciated. Rude not to ask. Will check out your link above re Dean Wood.
PS , Every picture tells a story, this one , belongs to my childhood.. I hope others on
WW find a similar . Wonderful memories!,
