Photo-a-Day (Sunday, 12th February, 2017)
Light at evening-time
An unusual photograph. Beautiful.
Not so many of them old lamp posts left in Wigan now.
I was surprised a couple of weeks ago when on one of my biking rambles I came across one up George terrace off Moore road in Orrell
I love that golden glow of the setting sun. A simple but beautiful image. Thanks David.
The original windows are lovely with the stained glass and stone surrounding. Can imagine the setting sun shining through them.
See item number 27640.
Nice photo Rev.
Was the old billiard room that.Fond memories as a kid here. You should grt a pic from the other side, the wing that is now the nursing home.
Rev Long was it All Saints, Hindley where you were ?
No, Helen - I was at St Mary's, Ince. I've taken the odd service at All Saints.
The nursing home on the site has been demolished, and replaced by two large houses.
Thanks Rev Long. Its my Prescott family history I am looking at & my mind is so befuddled with names & places today, I will have to look at it all again, it was the simple brick built church that seemed to be the one.

What a lovely, warm and cosy picture!
...For me,a welcome change from the monochrome landscape I see from my window today...I think I do well to stay strictly on this side of the window!
Here's irony; minutes after I posted my comment of 22:32, the lights went out!...and stayed out, along with heat, cooking and water being pumped from the well. So much for the conveniences of modern living in the depths of Mid-western Ontario! LOL!
