I walked around here last week and am amazed at the transformation from what it was like from when we used to swim in the gee sea flash ,looking good !

Yes Amberswood is very nice around the Spring View and Hindley side but its strewn with dumped rubbish and dog muck on the Lower Ince side.

I thought the g c pond was behind hindley prison by the side of the fence,I also seem to remember it being a lot smaller than this when I fished there as a young boy.

You are quite correct about the site of the G.C. Sam h. It ran alongside the Great Central railway.I remember learning how to swim there, me and a lot of other Platt Bridge urchins!

The pond near the prison was called the G.C to people from Hindley. The pond in the picture used to be two flashes, the Flash and the Raynor if you came from Hindley,People from Ince called these two flashes the Greenwater and the G.C.The railway line that ran between the two flashes and by ..the side of the Hindley G.C.was the Great Central line that ran from Wigan Central to Manchester Central hence the name G.C.We used to swim in them both. There are some good photos on Album of the G.C.where you used to fish Sam.Hope this makes sense.
