under new management I believe - seen a sudden demise in pubs in Aspull over the years - I believe the Gerard is doing quite well and I heard a whisper about a 'micro bar' opening up ...gone...Hare & Hounds, Running Horses, Queens Head, Red lion, New Inn, Mount Pleasant

" Bloomin-eck!" now that's the way to go with owd pubs. Love the little grey Ferguson tractor who does that belong to.

Walt, I don't know who owns it, but it was on show at a recent Tractor Rally held in Aspull.

As the new management has gone to such trouble I feel obliged to take a pint in there. I'm very generous like that!

Comment by: Johnny on 4th April 2016 at 13:32

I sat on this doorstep many times as a kid. We used to take bottles back for the 3d deposit. Two bottles bought a packet of Smith's Crisps, the ones with the little blue twist of salt. We were easily pleased.

Comment by: Johnny on 4th April 2016 at 20:25

Dennis
As kids we used to climb into the back-yard of the ale-house, help ourselves to a few empties and redeem the deposits at the "outdoor". After a week the landlord got suspicious until my mate said Its a very sad case, Johnnys Dad is an alcoholic!
