Alan you can thank Wigan council and a couple of the local Swinley women residents for the litter free streets.
Well you can thank Wigan Council for a litter free Wigan Town...but NOT around other parts of Wigan. Go round most other streets and roads, sweepers don't exist round the back streets.
Good photo used to frequent it in the early sixties as well as the other one on the other side of wigan lane. Though it's name escapes me right now
My late Mother-in-Law worked there when Johnny Lawrenson the ex Wigan Rugby League player was in charge between 1950- 1960's.

Walked past the Millstone last night, Monday 3rd April 2017 and the place was in total darkness. Hope it's not gone the way of many other watering holes
