i) White building used to be a shop
ii) the 'sand hole' was just behind it - with 'pens' at bottom of the 'lucky broo'
iii) further along there used to be at leat two shops in Lorne Street - 'top shop' as we called it

The sky looks like it's been photoshopped.

Malc, I remember that shop from my time at St Catharine's school and recall it was later converted into flats, a lad lived there who kept a white english bull terrier that kept getting loose and causing mayhem around Scholes, one day I saw it tossing around what I thought was a red coloured rag doll, sadly though when I got nearer I could see that it was a little poodle that it had killed.

Sometime later I later heard that it was deemed as being out of control by the police and vets and was PTS.

It's the first time I've seen those new houses, didn't know they were there.

And the 'owner' of the bull terrier Cyril?

I've no idea Julie as it was 35 to 36 years ago, the sight was so horrific that it has stayed in my mind, I used to see the owner of the poodle walking it daily too.

Not surprised it stayed in your mind Cyril.
