Interesting photo Mick. What is the far horizon, do you know??

Comment by: Kal on 2nd December 2014 at 01:17

Really like this one Mick. Intelligent shot. Thank you.

Unusual shot. All the crossing straight lines, wires, twigs, concrete, tree trunks & even another straight road (?) in the far distance....almost monochrome, as I said unusual.

is that Winter Hill on the horizon?

Comment by: cullie on 2nd December 2014 at 09:49

the old twenty bridges looking over toward rivvy .

Comment by: Peter Schofield on 2nd December 2014 at 09:52

Looking at the photograph it appears to me to be the Viaduct that carries the M6 Motorway over the Douglas Valley. Very unusual shot but interesting

So thats Rivington Pike in the distance! Been there a few times for dances and socials. And Winter Hill was early transmission site for TV.

looks like it was viewed off wigan lane near boars head.

Good one Mick.

Comment by: Garry on 2nd December 2014 at 18:40

That is looking over Darwin and not Rivington which is to the right.

You're excused Garry, as you said it's your age.

Comment by: Phil Whitehead on 8th December 2014 at 00:39

Is it possible to cross that Viaduct on foot?

Comment by: Roy on 15th December 2014 at 17:28

No Phil it's gated at each end.

Comment by: Ann on 17th December 2014 at 17:46

Roy, safety reasons? I would have thought Mick, the Rev, Aubrey and Albert could have given we ignorant people greater insight . Where did it go or connect to? Is now dangerous so sealed off. Does anyone know more about this viaduct? Just interested about some now left to decay that once was
