People that cannot be nice about beautiful pictures like this......should keep themselves to themselves and not be encouraged....
Rant over..... :-) .......cheers!!!
i agree lizzie ,
Liz:The photo`s of wildlife and flowers are very good, but there are other places for them.
Hi Ernest......may be you are right to some degree.....I don't see any harm in the odd pictures of flowers or birds or dogs.....they are part of the Wigan scene....they grow there, they are there, so what is so bad.....photographers love to explore these mediums to give us all pleasure at the amazing pictures they create....I love them all...and try to comment on all the pictures that are posted on here....they all have their own worth and merit, and if there wasn't the daily picture this ex pat would be pretty unhappy....cheers to you all..... :-)
When anyone doesn't like the P-A.D..they shouldn't comment..can't please all the people all of the time..simples...I love wildlife and love those colours too.
I personally don't see anything nice about buildings etc,I know some folk do so I just don't comment.
I agree with you Lizzie and Maureen.
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Liz; We`ve had 5 out of this month`s
11.
Why can`t we all enjoy what is on screen...we don`t have to leave it on longer than we want to !
It is Centaurea nigra or Common Knapweed, also known as Hard Heads and Black Knapweed.
The flowers attract a wide range of insects including bees, flies, butterflies and beetles and the resulting seed heads attract goldfinches and other seed feeding birds.
So all in all a very important wild flower wonderfully captured by John, as far as I'm aware Dirty Harry they don't grow in Nepal, but they and other wild flowers do thrive in Ince and other places around Wigan too.
To stretch the 'nigglers' even further, this site is about Wigan, Wiganers and what Wiganers are about - and John was out and about photographing the beautiful flora that abounds in the area, also giving a good indication of his hobbies and likes - similar to those of lots of other Wiganers. A lovely subject and well taken.
it's nice to have variety. I try and look each day and enjoy seeing what people snap when they're out and about.
this photo may be a weed /wild flower but may encourage someone to look closer and see the beauty when next they come across one.
I agree with Kath - just enjoy looking at the photos, and appreciate them - because Photo of the day is just that - photos, not just for Wigan scenes, although they are always interesting to see!
Hear, hear Lizzie; I totally agree with you! I refuse to comment on D.H.'s remarks, no matter how my swallowed words may choke me!!!
Pat; Photo-a-Day is in Photos of Wigan section.
While we are at it Ernest.....where else would you put flower pictures from around Wigan.......11:43 post.....cheers!!,
Thank you all for the positive posts on here....we well out number the negative ones.....cheers!!!
