Good one John, some people may be interested in a program that they have at Canterbury university. They are trying to clone birds like they did with Dolly the sheep to see if colours can be past from one to another. They did this with a male woodpecker and a white homing pigeon. The colours didn't cross over, but every time the bird came home after a flight it knocked on the door!

Lovely photo, John, wish I had your skill for wildlife photography.

dirty harry,EEEEER, if a person from Wigan takes a photo of "anything" and some people from wigan like it,like myself, there is the coNnection

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 10th August 2013 at 12:17

Dirty Harry it could also fly into the centre of Wigan at any time it chooses....so does that sound plausible to you....I think it is a Wigan Woodpecker.....so I wouldn't be in a rush to decide it is nothing to do with a connection to good old Wiggin.....cheers!!!

It must be a Wiganer, it's got it's cherry and white shirt on. Before you Latics fans have a moan, had it been a Bluebird i would have said the same thing, lol. Nice photo John well caught.
