Interesting. Nothing on that pic was there when I lived in Wigan from the late thirties up to leaving in the early seventies. Although I lived there for forty years I bet I would get lost right away if I came back.

Wigan outdoor market used to be very vibriant now can look like the photo during the day,cold and uninviting

Trixie there is a gallery all the way round the market with shops along.Photo taken from left side of gallery looking across to indoor market
anybody who has been away from wigan for the last 20 years or so would have a job recognising the place
the people who run the borough have made a right dogs dinner of it
it is sadly one of the worst shopping areas around,
even Leigh has a better market and shopping centre than we have
