IS IT RIGHT TO PUBLISH PICTURES OF THE PUBLIC WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION ?

Comment by: Syd on 4th May 2011 at 14:58

Janet, perhaps you may want to contact the UK press when they publish photo's of protesters, hooligans, football crowds and god knows how many celebrities, all without their consent!
These photos are really innocent, lighten up, enjoy the photo's and relax!

Comment by: Meg on 4th May 2011 at 15:12

I'm sure it is legal Janet but I have to say I don't think it's right or fair. I personally would hate to have my picture taken unawares, as these people clearly were and not only that, to have the picture displayed on a public forum for all to see.

janet
if its a public place then there is nothing you can do about it.

I hope they are not knocking off !!!!!!!!!!!

Its getting more common on this site to invade peoples private lives and to publish pictures without the people concerned in the pictures knowing or the person who is taking the picture bothering to let them see who is taking the pictures. It may be legal but it could still end up in court if the person gets a right hook for taking the wrong persons photograph. So people of Wigan who or just going about their own business shopping look out for the hidden photographer hiding in the shadows or in some dark doorway.

get a grip janet who gives a dam if someone takes a pic of people going about there own buisness its harmless.brian can take my photo any time and put it on wigan world.

Comment by: madge on 4th May 2011 at 17:49

It may be legal but idont think its fair to take photos of people out shopping if your having a photo took you like to prepare for it

Comment by: peter on 4th May 2011 at 18:35

its not illegal to take pictures providing its in a public place as to putting peoples pictures in the open like this, it is open to debate.
its perhaps not the nicest thing to put people pictures on a public forum for all to see and comment on.

Some people dont like having their photo taken and do anything to avoid it,Im sure these people would be mortified to see a photo on the net and if your self contious of how you look that would be the last thing you want.

Comment by: Gareth on 4th May 2011 at 20:59

Wonder what would happen if that was someone else's wife / husband they were out with.

It is a bit over exposed as the highlights look blown which spoils it a bit.

Comment by: John on 5th May 2011 at 07:43

Kells comments are far worse than you lot mourning about the photos of people.

Comment by: janet gibson on 5th May 2011 at 08:39

my comment caused a lot of reaction, like the comment from Gareth

Comment by: GARETH on 5th May 2011 at 15:15

Photos like this , while taken in all innocence and are perfectly legal could cause strife !

Comment by: John on 5th May 2011 at 19:32

Not you mourning as well Gareth - if you don't like it go somewhere else and leave the rest of us in peas!

Comment by: Gareth on 5th May 2011 at 21:23

Not mourning anyone or anything , just saying what it can do.
