Lovely butterfly, but the carving on the gravestone gives pause for thought......I'm aged 75 !

The rear end of that peacock butterfly resembles an owl to me, nice bright colours too.

Not to nit-pick, but that is a Moth, I think. Butterflies hold their wings vertically when resting on a surface.

Don, I wouldn't nit-pick unless I was possitive about the subject. It is definitely a Butterfly a Peacock.

Saw a couple of these butterflys in the garden last week ,not well up on butterflys ,so I googled it Peacock (Inachis io )http://www.butterfly-conservation.org/text/1758/the_peacock_butterfly.html
