Alan - the shape of the sun is due to the camera iris blades.

Another brilliant photo Dave, as for some of yesterdays comments, does it really matter if it isn't instantly regognisable as Wigan.

David - the 85mm F/1.4 would have given a more round sun due to it's curved iris blades. Well - up to about F5.6 or so. Feel free to buy me one :-)
