I'm reserching my SPEAKMAN family-who came from GOOSE GREEN, PEMBERTON, POOLSTOCK and LEIGH. If anyone could help me I would be very, very grateful. I would also love to see old photos of CHADWICK STREET,PRINCESS STREET or MIRY LANE -I know that these streets were knocked down many years ago but It would be nice to see where my family lived.

Born in higher ince lived there till 1963 got married lived in swinton until I emigrated to new zealand in 1965 now live in christchurch nz.

Can anybody help me? i am looking for old photos of the North Ashton Village club ( old or new building ) i am secretary of club and am trying to compile a photo gallery , but i have very few photos of NAVC . If anybody has any stashed away , could you upload them onto website , i would be much obliged , thank you .

Alan just read the thread on Wigan World of you looking for the name Hunter's butchers Golborne, I've just been on the phone to a butcher friend in Golborne and he is going to find out when and were and iff there was a butchers shop in the said name. He will let me know in about 2/3 weeks so keep fingers crossed.

May I take this opportunity to say what a remarkable site this is, It has everything. I think it is wonderful how sites such has this brings people together. From photography down to local classified adds. Thank God there are still people left in the world that care enough about other people to create a site like this. does anyone remember my grandad his name is walter cooper (little walt),he lived in aspull but was originally from darwen lancashire, he was a pittman worked in the dairy pitt and others he passed away in 1980 at no age of 58 i am looking for old pics or any infomation about him his wife was mary and they lived on balcaress road at aspull.

Anyone know of my grandma Alice J Quigley she worked in the winding room Empress Mill Wigan before her death in 1938.
