Lawns Brickworks from Lawns Farm.
The Lawns Works stood on what is now the playing field with 21 men producing bricks and tiles until 1954. Owned by the Laithwaite family pre 1900 and later the Simpkins and Gaskell Families who also owned Wigan Brick Co Ltd. A collapse of the kiln brought about the closure.

Is this picture of Tom Ashton?
My dad, Graham Collier went to school with him. He worked at the brickworks for a small time when he first left school. He also told me a tail about setting fire to an haystack on Ashton farm!!!
Is Tom still alive?
