what a crying shame!!!
oh what memories this brings back the ABCMiners Club on a sat morning I used to go sometimes but only when my mam could afford it I remember going to see the rolling stones at the Ritz with my brother Colin it was great when I was about 11 I was in Wrightington Hospital and my Auntie Irene used to work there as an usherette she took an autograph book and asked the Manager if he would get me the autographs of all the acts that appeared there but I never saw it again just think what that would be worth today never been lucky
Thankyou. fiona and joan, for your comments. I felt a hint of sadness when i took these photos. When the (ABC) as i remember it, was demolished, i felt that part of wigan was demolished with it. its not just the cinema that has been lost. but lets not forget the casino, central park, and soon the international pool(THE BATHS),and lots of other iconic buildings we have sadly lost over the years.
sad,but pictures that stir many happy memories.
I too used to go as an ABC minor on a saturday morning,if i was lucky i got 9d to go in the balcony lol. but yes i agree with colin, sadly the historical heat of wigan is being ripped away piece by piece.
the pictures brought tears to my eyes, happiness and sadness , i rember waiting all week for sat abc miners,, stapping our feet during the pictures, i never want it to end
