Wiganers at Work

Back in the fifties and early sixties, Wigan Registry Office was located in Bank Chambers, just behind the GPO at the top of Wallgate. Local News Photographers used to loiter about the Reg Office waiting for the weddings to come out, head and shoulders snaps were taken of each couple and later in the week the images would appear in the local papers.
One day early in my career on a cold damp morning, I moved inside bank cambers to wait and bored out of my tree I started to waste film snapping silly things, I always like this snap of the milk bottles on the window ledge by the door. Kodal Tri X fim on a Yashica Mat early in 1960
