It was the only try of the game, when Orrell played Liverpool at Waterloo for the Lancashire Cup in 1972.
The Lancashire Cup Tournament had been dormant for 72 years and this was the first time the trophy was played for in all that time. Only one try was scored to win the match or Orrell and that was in the closing moments of the game. Only two photographer, of those present captured the try, Gordon Hurst of The Lancashire Evening Post and I, this was my shot as Barry Fishwick powered over the line.

Barry Fishwick is alive and well and is a regular visitor to the Orrell matches and later in The Delph

Wonderful pic. Some years later, I was in a Stafford 3rd XV which was beaten 100-0 (!) at Orrell. Your left winger, who scored 6 tries? Barry Fishwick, allegedly dropped a couple of teams for missing training.

I was at that match, I now live in Southport, I believe I was the only one of my bunch of mates who thought Orrell would win.
