Prudence dear, I have searched for Mr Dowdall on the web. It appears he started acting in school. At sometime he played the rear end of a pantomime horse before being offered a part as Bottom in Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream.
He has made a number of TV appearances including the long running advert for Hovis bread. His TV credits include Apparitions, Britain’s Fattest Man and the Knightsbridge Security Express Robbery. He has also appeared in the film directed by Guy Ritchie, Sherlock Holmes.
In addition he seems to have appeared in a number of plays including Entertaining Mr Sloane and A Streetcar Named Desire. I couldn’t find the name of the theatre company in respect of the latter.
But you have to admire an actor who can successfully carry off parts as diverse as a priest and a Russian criminal.
