Photo-a-Day (Sunday, 29th June, 2025)
Horses
Six horses on view, all eating grass underfoot. Don't any owners of the horses feed them ??
Such a beautiful place full of open space than any other place in Wigan.
Thanks Mick, one of the best photos for a while.
Good morning, "Sue". Aren't we early-birds today?
Alan, it's seven horses that are eating the grass.
Good photo Mick, but why didn’t you make a clapping noise or blow a whistle to make them lift their heads up?
Teasy, there was no need to do that because most of the horses have their head pointing towards the camera already and not their bums like what the photo of the Aspull was showing.
Homes homes for the Range,
Where the deer and the horses could play,
Along comes Rayner and has her say,
“It’s such good space and handy for the motorway!”
Homes homes will now stand in the field..
Pity the poor horses had to bow down and yield!
Best I could do but you get the drift…
I think Sue and everyone else can post anytime Irene. Beautiful summer photo once again Mick.
I'm off to work at that particular time...
Irene. Hope I haven't broken any laws.
Grass in fields is much better than hand or stored food. Alan P.
A boy named 'Sue'?
This lovely photo is taking me back to when I was a child. I used to watch a TV programme called White Horses,
It was about a young foreign girl who went to live on her uncle's horse farm. I believe it was filmed in the Swiss Alps.
I can still remember sitting in my dad's armchair, sipping on my Vimto Ice Cream float.
Very happy days.
My eyes play tricks but all I can see is horses looking downwards more interested in what they are nibbling than looking at the man with phone.
When I said "aren't we early-birds today?" I wasn't using the royal "we"....I meant I was commenting unusually early too. People can post in the middle of the night should they feel inclined. I remember the "White Horses" programme too, and it's theme song...."On white horses let me ride away, to my world of dreams so far away......" It got into the charts if I remember rightly.
Irene taking another swipe at people, she hates it when it's on the other foot.
:>) only kidding Irene.
Really lovely photo Mick.
Check out Mick’s comments on P.A.D 5th March 2025..
Mick why do you always try to be someone you are not (Dorothy Hillman) all I can say is you’re very unhappy in your home and very insecure.
Either Alan P is trying to be a comedian (and failing), or he is woefully ignorant of equine care and diet.
Very good photo Mick...love it.
DTease just checked micks comments 5th March 2025 as I’ve said he must be very insecure pity really he may need help.
It's no wonder an intelligent bloke like Colin left WW Pads because of her and her gang.
The gang members will learn in time. Let's hope it's not too late.
Welcome to p-a-d Mutley and Haystack. Nice to see new contributors.
Reading between the lines one person made a Sicastic comment to Sue I would say.
But Sue didn't make a fuss like many would have.
Mick love your photos.
All be same whether it six seven or ten horses , there still always the muck and its everywhere , reason why always there is very good roses flowers and spuds caulliflowers out here in Shevington , it be horse muck you see and there is plenty of it always for us to use on us gardens , and why always there is strong pungent smell here .
I think the photo on the 5th March is far more panoramic and patchwork showing a lot more countryside with the horses closer to the photographer. This photo is very different in its way with the distant animals in the field. We don’t get the impression of the so called ‘’wide open space’’ of countryside that has been mentioned... Very different photographs when all’s said and done. I don’t think The Ginger One will bother the Parish Council if she sees this. Shevvy will be safe for some time yet. But watch out Aspull / Haigh/ Blackrod!
Al, it saddened me to see that you perceive me as someone who takes swipes at people, and believe me it IS often "on the other foot" , as it was on Friday June 27th's p-a-d when someone told me the reason I don't live in Shevington is because there aren't enough pubs! That was a "swipe-and-a-half"! But at least if you ever read what you consider to be a "swipe" at someone from me , you know it IS from me as I don't hide behind half a dozen different names, or brag incessantly about my home. Oh, and welcome to Howard.....you hadn't commented when I mentioned Mutley and Haystack.....three new people in one day, all posting interesting comments. Welcome!
That’s it Mick blame others ..but not yourself. “There’s none so blind as them that don’t see”.
Remember David Oy posting wonderful photos….another who bit the bullet.
Who is The Ginger One, Veronica, please? I'm a bit lost with that.
A peaceful pastoral scene, but in reality, the motorway is not too far away, as can be seen from the road signage.
I also used to like watching the TV show White Horses, one of the reasons was that it was filmed close to where my grandfather lived many years ago.
I also used to enjoy, as a child, Belle and Sebastian, a program about a boy and his dog, because of its spectacular scenery as well.
I don't think Colin left pad mick, spit his dummy out yes, but he's still with us (I think)
Angela Rayner - Irene the “ Land Grabber”.
She wants to build thousands upon thousand of homes for families. ( so she says!). She’s on the lookout for green pastures. Manly in the North it seems.
Agreed Colin is a decent guy and I understand why he doesn’t comment after mick’s aliases the first cut is the deepest.
And Garry Veronica.
The ginger one is to the right of the white horse, Irene:-)
I love white horse whisky it's much better than sherry.
Irene, I only mentioned pubs because you once told me that you had worked as a professional barmaid in all the Abram and Platt Bridge pubs and with Shevington only having one proper pub, living here wouldn't have been suitable.
John, Colin's not an American guy; he's a British gentleman, so stop trying to be a teenager.
Landburgher, was it your grandad who was the enemy of Willian Tell in the other TV show filmed in the Swiss mountains?
I worked in Platt Bridge, but only at The Platt Bridge Inn and The Queens Arms, which was my friend's pub, and I also worked voluntarily on the bar at Wigan Little Theatre, but I have never worked in Abram pubs. I worked evenings so that my husband was at home to look after the children. Once they were both at High School I went back to shop work.
Yes good reliable sensible Garry who stood no nonsense…you are correct Aspuller. He had no time for Show Offs. And appreciated David Oy’s photos very much….as well as others who aren’t posting any more.
John ( Howfen) you are a very sensible poster as well. Sound as a pound - don’t take any nonsense from anybody. I hope you don’t go off in a huff. We’re not all ‘off the wall’.
That’s crap Irene .
When you said . Good morning, "Sue". Aren’t we early-birds today? you were intimating that Mick Byrne was using the name as an antonym.
I’m not entirely thick you know .
Why not give this effin’ vendetta a rest eh ?
Best wishes … Ozy .
You should know very well he uses other antonyms Ozy perhaps not that particular one.
You only have to look at the post above to John how ignorant he is! Same with annoying Irene with his daft talk. .
Ozy, I think you and I have respect for each other and I'm not thick either. Mick uses so many pseudonyms that it is hard to know if some of the names that appear are him or not so it's difficult to know who we are speaking to; at least I only use my own name. I don't mind at all being told to give the "vendetta" a rest, but why just me? Why don't you tell him too? It always seems to be me who is the guilty party, when you bring this up, and it isn't only me who has commented on this subject today. However, he spoke politely earlier about my bar work and when I am spoken to politely I answer politely, and always will. I'm not falling out with you, just saying it how it is. Anyway, I'm signing off now as I have been up since 5.30 am. Tomorrow is another day. Goodnight and Best wishes, Irene. x
Veronica there’s no chance of me going off in a huff and why he (mick)tries to create bad feelings with everyone is beyond me, I take notice Dennis,Cyril,Tom and quite a few others never get involved and I certainly have more respect for them than I ever will for mick meanwhile we have had a brilliant afternoon Spoons,Wheatshief and finished off with a always good meal at Casa Nostra
Mick ! … stop winding Irene up eh ?
And stop using them daft multiple names an’ all . You’ll have folk thinking you’ve just broke out of Winwick if you’re not careful .
Theer Irene … I’ve towd him .
Not that I expect it to make any difference .
Thankyou Ozy.
Ozy, what I told you about me posting as Tom was supposed to be a secret between me and you and not for you to say to the world. And I hope you don't think that all those new names that appeared yesterday had anything to do with me, some of them could be from your lady friend.
John boy, you said you wouldnt be leaving when having a discushion with you know who, but why was you crying about nobody commenting on the photos that you sent in, and why when you found out I was in a mutual shop you excitedly said ooohhh quick pass the phone over to him and when I said bugger off you then asked for for phone number, which I also said tell him to bugger off, because I dont want him phoning me up.
And what is all this nonsense about me and Colin, and the first cut is the deepest, as somebody told you to say that?
And for the record, good old Garry and Gino, mmmm, where all fakes, and most of you know it, and what went on was said by me about Oys Cow jumping the queue photo is all on record that can be viewed if you look back.
You can also view comments from Teasy and comments from a woman telling him to have a go at me.
So don't believe the lies you are being told, that all I'm saying for now, but there is more.
Mick go and play with the traffic you’re talking rubbish end of.
Mick 36 lines of complete lying you definitely short of something.
I hope you are not referring to me you stupid person I am no one’s ‘ lady friend’ . Get that out of your mind for a start. You are nothing but a troublemaker with your assumptions.
