Brilliant location Dennis.

I just can't place where they are. I know there are areas of Standish with the prefix "Prospect" but didn't know there were any in Haigh. They look lovely.

Fantastic location, beautiful.
Thanks Dennis.

Look a nice place to be, look at all those Buttercups in the grass!
Wonder if the 'slope' is man made....flood plain perhaps ?

What a prospect to live in such beautiful surroundings. That is a well sought after area if you could afford it - no doubt about it.

I can see they've got the scaffolding up again.

Where is this Dennis.

Irene, I can't believe you're lost again, after all the courting you did on the plantations when you were younger.
Imagine coming out of the tap room at the Balcarres Arms, you will see 3 roads and 1 dirt track, take the dirt track and you will get to these cottages, good luck in locating them next time you're up that way.

Comment by: Ed. on 1st June 2025 at 13:36

It might look nice and quiet on this photo, but believe me, this area is a rat run from the Aspull council estate for your motorbike riders, the ones who are tearing up the lovely plantation woodlands

Mick, I wasn't "courting" when I went through the plantations....I was a child with my parents. I haven't been in The Balcarres since my son was 17 and he took me there for my dinner in his first car, (he is now 48), and I wouldn't know where the tap-room was located.

Good photo Dennis.
Irene, I too had forgotten whereabouts this was, if you scroll down to page 6 on the online details of a cottage which was for sale by R&H, link below, it does show a map where it is, and roughly is between New Road and the rear of St David's church.

Thankyou Cyril.

Comment by: Strangeloop on 1st June 2025 at 22:36

How long ago was it offered for sale?

I think I might have bought it at that price, had I known of it being on the market.

Comment by: Veronica on 2nd June 2025 at 06:52

Thanks Cyril it’s less than I thought it would be.

Comment by: Cyril on 2nd June 2025 at 14:46

There are two dates on the R&H documents: 1 is 2014, with the other 2015.
Though according to the Move Market website, link below, it was last sold for 235,000 in 2020, and steadily increased in value since then.
