‘God’s in his heaven and all’s right with the world’. The fisherman is incognito and blissfully at peace. A lovely scene.

Always amazes me how much tackle a fisherman needs to not catch a fish.
They even have tents stoves and sleeping bags in case they get tired.

Things have certainly developed since Huck Finn tied a bit of cat gut to his toe and dangled it in the creek . They seem to have more equipment than Thunderbirds these days . Still , if you're into something you may as well get into it fully . It's a grand pastime and I hope he had a good day .

Such a peaceful scene, just to sit quiet & think.....love his canvas trolley, he must be there for the day.
Lovely photo Dennis.

Looks just like a John Constable painting. Picture perfect!

It looks so restful and calming on a pleasant afternoon.
A lovely well framed view Dennis.

Well, I don't know where my comment went from about 7.30 this morning....it must have disappeared into thin air! It was just to say a friend of mine who used to mind our dog when we were away used to live near there, and often took Ben for walks around the Water Park. I have never been but believe it is a lovely place. There is a fishing pond in Spring View that used to be called "Gone Fishing" , and I thought it was such a lovely and appropriate name that always made me smile when we passed it.

But is he a fisherman or an angler, that is the question.

Orrell Water Park is still known as Orrell Razzers to locals.

I've been told that Fir Tree Fishery, The Nook, Shevington, Wigan WN6 9JB is the best place in the North West of England for catching nice fish.
They call them specimen fish, and they are huge. They also have Black Swans and Llamas roaming about.

Not related to the picture but is anyone else having issues with lots of ads and pop ups on here now?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 28th May 2025 at 20:43

Yes, John Howfen, and they want you to pay to have them removed; I refuse point-blank. I didn't request the adverts and I won't pay to have them removed.

I’ll get my granddaughter to do it for me John. I don’t like fiddling with technical stuff. Thank you.

Comment by: Veronica on 29th May 2025 at 15:50

People are being spied on in everything they do or say. Technology has gone mad. It will be the death of us. All the cookies are doing is showing what people are buying

I managed to do my phone but as yet I’m struggling to do the iPad so probably ask one of my granddaughters or daughter to sort Veronica.

Comment by: John (Howfen) on 29th May 2025 at 20:22

Dennis al sorted on iPad thanks again (Brave)

The problem is they do things too fast. My eyes are swizzling watching them. I try to write down instructions but I can’t keep up…then it’s all gobbledygook when I read it back! I give up John.

Veronica if I knew how I got the app I would definitely help you but it was more luck than judgement as I normally ask my granddaughters like yourself.
