Nobody I've asked knows why they have changed its name to Barkley Tavern.

And why spell it like that?
Perhaps they are Barking up the wrong tree or just Barking Mad.

Its common knowledge the pub has become dog-friendly; hence the change of name – take a look in, you’ll see what I mean

I've just been outside to our bins and saw nextdoor neighbour who said that she had seen today's photo and thought the pub might have something to do with Steven Barkley from Dragons Den, I said but his name is not spelt like that.

Mick it’s because it is dog friendly maybe,Irene saw you I think heading for Leigh centre just after 11am today in Dolly if I got the name of car correct,apologies for going of the subject big Harold.

To answer John (Howfen), yes, that was us in Dorothy. We had just been to Aldi at Hindley Green, where we came out with our shopping to find a man taking a photo of Dorothy, (it happens regularly!), and we then went on our way to Tesco at Leigh. Glad you saw us.

I though this morning that it not like mick to send in a boring pub photo like this.
Now I can see the dogs drinking a pint in the windows.

Irene it was on Twist Lane when I spotted Dorothy I was heading the opposite direction great motor.

Yes, this pub is now a dog pub where you can sit and drink with your dog. Thanks for all the comments BTW.
I bet it will be noisy with all that yapping that dogs do.

I was under the impression it was envisaged to be a Dog creche type establishment. Where you could leave your dog during the day?? But obviously it wasn't feasible?? Hence they changed it back to a pub???
