Left hand drive Escort Mick, or is it a rotate mirror image.

Put 1 or 2 laps in around there. The last time I was here I took a DB9 out for 20 laps, a week before the first lockdown. My Son took a picture of me in it exactly where the Escort is. Good picture Brian.

This track was built for Karting and the likes of Lewis Hamilton raced on the track. They have tried all sorts of motor sports on the track from motorbikes to fancy cars but it is only suitable for what it was designed for which is Karting

Interesting picture Brian particularly if you are into motor sports and karting.
It’s so long since I’ve heard of the Three Sisters I can’t remember where exactly it is but believe it used to be very popular.

I went round this track on a push bike,
the noisy motor events held here spoils it. for any nature lover who just want to see and hear the sounds of nature.

On closer inspection it is Right hand drive, the car is carrying a passenger.
Thanks Brian.

One of the few sports I can't take to . Like standing on the hard shoulder of the M6 all afternoon .
I quite like watching the T.T . though . ( Go on George !)
In ' No Limits' , you can see the Swastika flag flying by the Grandstand .

Colin Using the A49 from Wigan get to Bryn Traffic lights and turn left take your next left then after the bus depot take another left and the race track is at the end facing you

I saw Lewis Hamilton and another young lad back in the day racing there. He was part of the Mclaren young drivers academy and it's fair to say had quite a significant backing, which has been bourne out with the career he's had. It caused quite a stir when we heard who'd sent their drivers along. I was doing spanners for a lad who was in the Senior TKM 100 category and we went for a toot between races at the future stars in our midst.. Lewis would have been about 10 at the time I think.

Interesting Brian there’s a mk2 escort in full racing speck on eBay £89,995 scandalous,Back on 7.7.77 we raced a Mk1 Escort Van at Melbourne Drag Strip Yorkshire winning every contender in its class due to us placing a V8 with auto box in the engine bay,A60 back axle,Camero rear wheels, respray and sign written (Torque of the North) £300 for everything.

Just follow Bryn Nature reserve, up Lockett Road, an industrial estate.
I thought everyone knew where this is.
It's also a great walk.

Comment by: Arthur on 19th February 2025 at 13:26

Head for the Three Sisters recreation Nature reserve, you'll like it up there Colin. A beautiful place to take photos.
Just off Lockett Road, Bryn.
Good photo Brian.

It is a great walk Matt, You can also get right down to the canal bank, and if you are on a bike, then the world is your oyster.

There are no double yellow lines that’s why they keep diving round in circles.

Colin there's a beautiful country park that you must visit. Right on the race track door step. It's called the three sisters recreation Nature reserve, your finger will be clicking away on your camera, especially now Spring is just round the corner.

The professional Photographer Dave "OY" Green took some breathtaking photos from the three sisters nature reserve WN84DD. We were treated to some fabulous stunning photos of birds and wildlife in general and of the lake.
But not only three sisters but Haigh Hall and Pennington Flash and many other parts of Wigan. I often look back on PaD and really appreciate the top quality of his photos. I miss his stunning photos that we now took for granted.

I agree Claire…what a great pity he no longer posts photos on here. You would know in an instant one of his.
