That swan is so cute and looks shy. Nice to see wildlife for a change.

White swan Cygnets hatch out around May to July, this is very rare to find a young one at this time of year.

Comment by: Robert on 27th January 2025 at 07:57

Black Swans can have Winter clutches of Cygnets in Winter, but mainly from April to September. I'm not too sure what colour the young one will turn out....at a guess black.
Smashing photo Mike.

Mike....did you manage to see it's parents, are they black or white?
Brilliant photo.

A beautiful Cygnet in its shades of brown

The swan is or will be white. There were 3 young ones along the the parent swans.and very inquisitive to passers by probably expecting food.

Waw what a beautiful photo. Takes your breath away, absolutely stunning.

Looking at its beak I would say that it is a Mute Swan, when it matures it will turn orange.
Plus which, the fact that it did not speak to Mike I think confirms that it is indeed Mute.

What a beautiful detailed photograph - you can clearly see the feathers on its head - just lovely. Thank you. Thank goodness for the beauty of nature.

Somebody is suffering from an over dose of pies, slow to catch up or on the wrong site. Poor old Wiganer.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th January 2025 at 16:28

Do you mean the Swans Wiganer? Only joking! In fact we may as well have wild life ‘running the country’ for what good they are.

A very swan indeed as Danny Kaye sang.
