Beautiful Trees
Photo: Dennis Seddon (Sony DSC-HX99)
You have captured the moment perfectly Dennis. The tree looks much larger than normal, I think it’s in the grounds of Wigan Hall.
I havent seen trees frosted like that for years, just wonderful Dennis.
Trees do take a battering living outside in all sorts of weather. They have to cope with hard frost, like today's Pads shows, the weight of snow on their branches, gale-force winds, heavy rain, and baking hot sunshine.
Then there are the wildlife who make homes in them, and let's not forget us humans who snap off their branches when we climb up them.
People who carve their initials in their bark and the councils who cut off some of their branches so doubledecker buses can get underneath them
Lovely pic, this photo actually makes it look much better than it normally does.
The trees were really beautiful with the frost. A good photo Dennis.
Very nice and no tree pollen.
I am not a "cold weather" person but Winter certainly has its beauty. I was once in Wigan/Mesnes Park, (whatever you choose to call it), when the trees were frosted like that and it was like being in Wonderland. Beautiful photo, Dennis. Thankyou.
Beautiful nature in all its glory..thank you Dennis.
Irene, I’m not a cold weather person either, snow and ice lovely on pictures especially this one by Dennis.
Give me a tropical island beech scene with swaying palm trees any day, preferably with me on it! :-)
I love trees in Winter they have a beauty all their own. Then again I love them in Autumn with all the shades of copper and gold…I look forward to Spring when the fresh green leaves burst into life. In other words l just love trees whatever season. A splendid tree in all its seasonal glory today.
Eddie. About your post yesterday about the Cain sisters. I remember their names, but I can’t place them maybe they were a bit older or younger than me. I think they lived in St John’s Road. Are you an Aspull lad.
Another great picture Dennis.
Yes Kath you are correct the two sister lived ln
St John's road, the oldest sister Irene was my
Girl friend at the time.
No Kath l didn't, live in Aspull l was from the
Scholes area of wigan.
Kath, Yvonne lived on Bolton road near to Bernstenes kitchens,
Irene, I have the upmost respect for you and Veronica, and love to hear all you comments that are most interesting. But like me at a certain age we have always known it as Wigan Park.
Arthur, I have always called it Wigan Park and always will. I gave it both names in my above comment out of respect for people who know it as Mesnes Park. I grew up in Ince and the park there has always been known as Ince Park, but its proper name is Walmesley Park and a lot of people weren't aware of that when I was growing up. I think people will always call places by the names they are used to.....Low Hall Nature Reserve in Platt Bridge will forever be "Sammy's Flood" to the locals, whatever fancy name the Council bestow on it, and I love that! Thankyou for your kind compliment about Veronica's and my comments.....we enjoy a bit of light banter and fun.
Definitely “ Wiggin” Park to me Arthur you’re not on your own. I thank you for the compliment as Irene said. You are a gentleman.
I'm pleased to see that those two women have not been having a go at my pater today.
