Haigh Plantations
Photo: Mick Byrne (.)
Mick this is lovely, and this is what PaD is and should be all about. Autumn has some beautiful colours that are more appealing in low sunshine.
Picture Perfect Mick, a joy to behold.
Peaceful scene and fitting for the memory of Mr Dawber.
Well done Mr Byrne.
Ron must have known every inch of his beloved plantations. Every season was a sight to behold by him. He left a lovely legacy behind for us to see over and over again. He certainly won’t be forgotten as his photos still ‘pop up’ on opening WW page. Lovely shades of Autumn today.
I often look back of Ron Dawber's contritions on pad, they were all so different and so interesting. A remarkable gentleman. RIP Ron.
Very good photo once again Mick.
A lovely scene. Happy memories of going through the Plantations on the tractor as a child with my parents, although this is probably a different part to the tractor-route. Scenes like this always make me think of the timelessness of a place.....the changing dress-fashions of the Wigan people who have walked through the Plantations through the years, yet their surroundings remain unchanged. It is the trees and pathways that witness the changes, not us. No wonder people feel peace there.
Mick, I echo the sentiment of T.D. nice of you to remember Ron Dawber in your lovely photograph.
Someone commented the other day that I should get a cheap car to get around. After Covid we got rid of both our cars, it was a waste of money having them parked outside for months on end.
There are times when we could use one to access these beautiful places but will stick with where we can can get by bus and rail, not Bee Networks fault that Haigh Hall these days a bit out of reach.
Perhaps Ron Dawber had the right idea. I don't think you have to be disabled to get a mobility scooter, some of them zooming around Wigan are like Dune Buggies, it's given me something to think about! Cheers.
Yes you don't have to have a disability to own a scooter. Just purchased one.
But you have to pay for it yourself.
I have two scooters, one that breaks down into four parts and one that folds down into one liftable piece.
I have two vans Mick …
One that breaks down occasionally , and one that breaks down constantly .
Ozy, I had the radiator changed on Thursday but to my surprise, the plumber took the old radiator with him.
Sandbag Mary Ann Mick
I have two legs, one that packs in suddenly when I least expect it and another that is very hard to start in the morning, especially in Winter.
With current improvements being made to the Whelley loop line and connectivity to and from Standish. Perhaps a two seater electric tricycle could be considered for transporting Mrs and Mr Traynor through the plantations and up to Haigh hall for refreshments. Weather permitting.
You DO make me laugh, you lot! It's good to have a laugh at the end of the day. Thankyou!
It sounds like you need one of those contraptions on wheels that you can lean on Dtease. There’s some with a bag on the front. Some of them even have a seat attached!
