If all these fast food places closed half the town would go hungry, long queues there every day. Dose no one know how to cook any more

I have a niece who trained to be a chef and years ago if you looked in her bin there was nothing but McDonalds packets and wrappers. If you get a McDonalds Fries & Burger if you don't eat them straight away the fries go cold but you see kids/teens sat there for ages eating cold fries. If a cafe/restaurant served up luke warm/cold chips you would send them back

Old McDonald has come along way since farming days. Trying to think what was here before a long time ago.

Wasn’t this built on the site of the old Morris Street Labour Club?

It wouldn't do to live on junk food but I must admit I love a McDonald's or a KFC .....just once in a while they do no one any harm, and a little of what you fancy does you good, as the song goes. A relative of my grandchildren used to work for McDonald's, (not in Wigan), and brought them some of the wrapping items.....little sheets of greaseproof paper that are used to wrap around small burgers, tiny paper bags for a small portions of fries, cardboard containers for larger fries, burger boxes etc.....what I would have given for those to play "McDonald's" with when I was a child! Obviously McDonald's didn't exist then but I would have been in my element!

Least said about the monarchy the better, but there is a better option in my opinion.
Burger King.

A Burger King is currently being built in Platt Bridge, just down the road from me, T.D.. I bet McDonald's, (just round the corner), aren't very happy!

T.D. Not sure what the Monarchy has to do with the price of cheese but I do like a Chicken Royale from Burger King. Mmmmmm.

Dennis, after reading your photo title I had thoughts of this song by Bing - https://youtu.be/OZrHtH2hFO8?si=kTN81tLDLr-hl4Fi

The queues around to the serving hatch seem to be none stop from early mornings to late evenings, so those Golden Arches certainly are leading to a gold mine for the owners.

Irene, Colin is on to something. The new Burger King is on the site of the former Platt Bridge labour club. Handy for you to pop in and treat yourself when it's open. Order 'Chicken Royale' it'll make yon neighbours at Ronnie McDonalds jealous.

Here’s a public information broadcast for those amongst us that aren’t already aware …
It’s possible to purchase chicken breast practically by the bucketful at Bolton market for a tenner … enough to keep Billy Bunter fed for a fortnit or more .

I don’t actually know what ‘ Chicken Royale ‘ is , and furthermore , I’m not prepared to shell out a tenner to find out either .

So it comes as no surprise to me that half the population of this country are constantly bleating on about not being able to feed their families when they insist on sending out for Dominoes pizzas at 14 quid a pop minimum , instead of getting off their fat backsides , peeling a few spuds and firing up the chip pan … or getting a couple of kilos of pasta at 50p a kilo . They’d have to give the stuff away to make it any cheaper .

So ! … food banks my backside .

Pardon me if appear to be unsympathetic , but there you have it …
the abridged version of my take on the current state of dietary affairs in this country .

I've heard of "chicken in a basket" but never "chicken in a bucket".

Have to admit , that one made me smile George .

Couldn't agree more Ozy

I think Ozy has a valid point....
When I was at school there was a subject called Domestic Science where you learnt how to boil potatoes, wash pots, knock up a Victoria sponge & make a bed .
Of course today that would be frowned on as sexist & lets face it todays women ain't what they used to be.
