Motorway looks quiet. It makes a change to see the traffic moving there have been a few times over the last few days when various sections have been closed due to accidents

Good photo Mick, I'm glad they built the M6 road when they did because it's stopped all that traffic driving through Wigan.

Life it overflows us
Like a stone within a stream
We think we’re going somewhere
when in truth it’s just a dream
Mud it stops our progress
then eventually we move on
moving with tidal
puffed out sails upon
Some they reach the distant
some take the stone in hand
to skim the glass filled waters
with grasp and hope , we land ?

This section of the M6 opened in 1963, continuing the original Preston bypass opened in 1958.
Motorists used to drive on it for pleasure.
Now the equivalent of having root canal surgery without anaesthetic.

I remember driving on the new motorways for pleasure Gary. It was a time when you could drive to, and around the Lake District for less than a tenner. Now driving anywhere is a nightmare. The sense of freedom that driving gave has disappeared.
I feel sorry for Lorry Drivers who have to spend every working day trudging up and down these rotten roads to ruin and put up with crazy motorists tearing around at lunatic speeds to places they probably didn’t want to go in the first place.
