Photo-a-Day (Monday, 30th September, 2024)
At The Bottom
You can say that again.
Having been involved (HS&E) in this project up to my retirement in 2010, it shows what nature can do over a period of time. I refer to the photos on Album-work -Wigan FAS, A good photograph Dennis showing the tree's in their glory. It's 3/4 years since I visited the site.
I walked down there just the other day before continuing on along the river bank into town taking a picture from the Bottling Wood side.
Perhaps it will feature one day.
Very different to when I was a kid: cobbled and then dirt, with the concrete footbridge and the uneven cobbled path. There were never any cars parked at the bottom.
I went up-and-down Coppull Lane hundreds of times in my younger years.
It certainly looks very different now.
Thanks for another wonderful photograph, Dennis.
I imagine that the dam has provided much better control over the river. I also imagine that control has been needed given the amount of rain we have had this year.
Although I liked the area better before the dam, it seems to be very popular with many people out walking their dogs on the day I took this photo.
It’s amazing how quickly nature can recover after such wide scale disruption.

The water in the plantation flood area will be rising as we speak; by tomorrow morning, it might be coming over the top.
That's an amazing video, Bob
