I bet there have been a few stray golf ball ended up in the canal, Years ago we booked a barge for a week and we where on the Trent and Mersey canal I think through Staffordshire, It was a change of pace and the locks were not that hard to master.

My favourite theme for PAD. Someone messing about on the water. Have learnt so much more about canals & their builders since watching Robbie Cumming on TV.
Nice one Dennis.

A lovely timeless scene and the boat with its simple colours blends into the scenery. In other words it’s not ‘in your face’…That’s not to say the boats that are gaily painted aren’t nice they’re in a different category…more artistic…but loud. ( I think I’ve dug myself out of that hole - hopefully !)

We were in Hungerford years ago, and a couple on one of the barges told us that they rented their house out for months every year, whilst they 'barged' on the canals. We felt relaxed just listening to them! Thank you for a beautiful photo Dennis.

I was fishing last week near Scotsman Flash, and a floating caravan came sailing past me.
I couldn't believe my eyes what I was seeing; it even had a name on it, which was Caraboat.

Same here Helen of Troy we have seen and learnt a lot about the canals and the history surrounding them while watching canal diaries with Robbie Cumming.

Good photo Dennis I was talking to a decent man yesterday at Hesk Bank that lives on the canal at Lower Ince.

My friends and I many many years ago , with planks, built an impressive bridge to cross to the other side . We then camped in a small wood close by . Our meals were eggs , bacon a lots of sausages , but I remember we slept a lot because the rain never seemed to stop . Rain , however we blame it , is a wonderful sleep remedy, well it was for my team . Harry , my friend , waterproofed the tent and it worked a treat
Also , sausages are a million times better when cooked on an open fire, no matter the rain .
When we woke , would believe it , it was still raining , so we just all nodded off again . Looking at my journal it feels so strange , just holding it again in my hands , the same as I did as boy . I can see the errors in my writing and remember making and correcting them. How time moves .
Ps . Believe it or not , if I can’t sleep , I just think of rain and our tent in the wood - never fails to send me off .
The only stories I have of any value now are of my adventures as a boy ! When I became an adult life became a bore - totally no comparison. Then you just didn’t need to think , now everybody wants to bang drums around you to tell you what’s right .
Goodnight and God Bless , I wish you all the best rain as you sleep in your tents .
