Photo-a-Day (Monday, 2nd September, 2024)
Wigan Lane
Is the lady on the balcony naked?
A nice pastoral scene.
The sheep look quite content.
A green and pleasant scene Dennis.
The views across the Douglas Valley towards Haigh from those properties is quite beautiful.
Interestingly that house to the left with the Mock Tudor boarding, probably Edwardian is in Wigan whilst those recent new builds to the right are in Standish.
The Mock Tudor house is picture postcard from the front and a credit to its owner, real chocolate box. I sent a picture to pad showing the house with Boundary Stone at the front gate, unfortunately it did not appear.
I think it's a man, maybe a bodybuilder.
Were you Peeping Tom? I think that was wishful thinking.
If there was a naked lady on the balcony I think Dennis would have used his telephoto lens and kept that one to himself!
Nothing more restful on the eye than sheep or cattle grazing in a field. Pity they have to string telephone wires across though.
I would have waited until the sheep had their heads-ups so they looked like sheep.
Old choral favourite - Where Sheep May Safely Graze.
Dennis like Colin you always produce good photos……..distracting from that but you maybe interested and may well be aware 10am till 2pm at St Wilfrid’s Standish this Saturday you can learn all the history and more of this great church.
Why is this photo titled “Wigan Lane”?
The houses shown are neither on Wigan Lane or Wigan Road. They are ‘off’ Wigan Road, Standish.
Neither Wigan Lane or Wigan Road is actually in the photo.
Could have called it “M6 Motorway”. It’s in that direction, but you can’t see it.
Come on, if you’re going to show photos, at least know what the photo is of.
George, why are do you always seem to be grumpy?
I think Colin was spot on, these are the rear of those properties. They are located on the main road where Wigan Lane joins Wigan Road at Boars Head.
Please keep happy for a change.
George, why don’t you take a few photos yourself then we can all have a nit pick at your efforts?
People like Dennis, Colin and others go out of their way to share their photos with us and all you can do is moan and find fault, unbelievable!
George stop moaning.
I like seeing sheep in photos like this doing what sheep do just grazing non-stop. They give life to the scene. You would hardly think a main road was behind the houses for that matter.
WN6, Wigan Lane does not join Wigan Road at the Boars Head.
George and Co. The houses on the photograph are on a new development named “Douglas View” (strangely, as the Douglas can’t be viewed from it) which is off Wigan Road in Standish. Wigan Lane is not on the photograph.
