The Swan Hotel
Looks like a well kept pub on the outside.Does it serve a decent pint? I have just emulsioned my dining room in the light blue
I spent many a happy hour in there. My son lives a couple of hundred yards away.
Again, not a pub or area I am familiar with but is a nice photo.
The Swan look’s lovely from the outside with its hanging baskets and potted plants, some landlords don’t seem to take pride in their pubs these days.
Hope you called in for a ‘light’ refreshment Dennis?
Many may have seen the Swan Hotel on their travels when it was a Greenhalls house, but now I see there is a selection of ales and cask beers to draw folk in. Good
photo Dennis.
I was born a bit further up at 683 Atherton rd,now gone, and had quite a few relatives near here.Been to quite a few weddings etc in this pub.It has a large well kept beer garden at the side as well.
At least this pub is trading for the time being until them lot who are governing this country and try to stop people stop smoking in beer gardens there will be no pubs left in the near future.
Great photo Dennis I pass the Swan every Sunday heading home after a ride.PW I have spent some time around there early 60 ties made loads of friends Christine Menzies,Pat and June Barker Jimmy Butterworth Brian Molyneax to name a few albet you remember those names?
Also did quite a lot of work at the garage just past Aldi for Paul Martin car and van hire early 70 ties, fitting V4 engine to transit van that came in at 10pm etc etc all outside in all weather loved it.
John(Westhoughton) I born at my aunties house,I have no idea why so I did not live in Hindley Green ,we came from Hindley..We very regularly visited relatives whose names were Kearsley,Whittle and Rigby.I had two cousins Pat and June Kearsley and plenty called Whittle.
