Leigh Leopards On Tour
Photo: Colin Traynor (iPhone)
Why oh why do these people need tattoos like those.
Sue, it so they can wear shorts. All men with leg tattoos wear them even in the middle of winter!
Well done to the lads. There’s some stout legs between them. ( They need those muscles for that distance., )
Sue, I often wonder that myself. Looking at the photo I first thought that for some reason was a sort of mucky salve on the back of his legs !
Do they have tattoos done when young & foolish or is it they need to draw attention to themselves ? Worst tattoo I have seen
was a middle aged man who actually wore glasses & had a chain tattoos down the sides of his face as if he might mislay his specs . Did he not think he would ever age & get flabby skin ?
That said good for them cycling for charity !
I know ! They would probably be horrified if they had varicose veins but yet have this done, beyond me.
Chap with the tats doesn’t look too happy being photographed does he?
Try young females with tattooed thighs - look like sides of bacon. Men and women with tattooed necks. Ugh!
Charity a good cause - mind you, as soon as I see Manchester to Blackpool I am reminded of the taxi run for disabled children organized by Savile in the mid sixties. Their stop off was the Toby Jug cafe on the A6 in Adlington. As early as 1967 the staff had doubts about him.
'These' people ? How rude and condescending . Well done lads .
They remind me of male Bette Lynches or Lily Savages with their leopard skin tops! I don't mind small tattoos but when they are all over legs and arms they look awful! I particularly hate seeing brides in sleeveless bridal gowns with tattoos on their arms and shoulders. However, the cheery smiles of the cyclists in the photo and their efforts for charity are admirable, so well done to them and to all who took part.
On the left is Derek Beaumont the Leigh Rugby owner
Many congratulations to John (Westhoughton) for raising a fantastic amount of money for this charity, and all the other teams and individuals who, tattoos or not, deserve our praise, well done.
I would have all on to walk up Rectory Lane let alone cycle.
Brilliant that they're raising money for charity. Where would we be without these fund-raisers. Wonder if they've thought of making a calendar - they could be Jan, Feb, March and April!!
You see people in Supermarkets even on a cold day wearing shorts only to show off tattoos.
Waste of good money for me.
I think the leopard on the right just won a game of Dominoes!
I remember in the 1960s if you went for a job interview with tattoos on your hands and arms, you never got the job.
I thought they were shin pads back to front.
I agree with most of you, tattoos not for me, and most people who I've spoken to in the past have all said they were drunk when they had them done!
I understand it to a point if it's something meaningful, child's name, football or rugby team badge etc. Why some people want to go round covered in nonsensical rubbish resembling a children's colouring book is beyond me
It's not just daft tattoos, it's earrings rings as well.
Yes Helen these blue ink tattoos looks like they have mucky legs.
The one on the left looks like Derek Boumont, the millionaire owner of Leigh Rugby League club
I’ve got one on my left buttock but you won’t see me walking around Wigan showing it.
Some of those size 24 women walking around half naked think it enhances their ample exposed flesh, it makes me want to vomit.
Please can everyone stop observant tattoos they are a personal choice and focus on their great achievements.
They waived when I asked if they were Leigh Leopards. Intrigued to know if that is Derek Beaumont I have emailed the club and asked them to confirm.
Rude indeed . The man of many nom de plumes having a good old go today ain't he. .! Forget all about a person's good deeds and rip into them with peevish comments . Shameful and absolutely unbelievable .
60 for the Christie. We'll done to all involved.
Good photo Colin what time would that be as it was 10am my mate and me where pass St Wilfred’s I’ve not got any tattoos but no objections one life so live it.I can’t recall seeing that group going to Blackpool and didn’t see anyone whilst returning to Westhoughton only the one’s still heading for Blackpool that started maybe a bit later than 7.30am what a great day and well exceeded our target of £1,000 cheers everyone.
I don't like tattoos but it's very much a personal choice. I just wonder if they've considered what they will look like when they're old wrinklies.
Well done to John and everyone who took part in the bike ride, I love the leopard skin.
Obviously all the cyclists had a lot of fun biking it to Blackpool, and raised a lot of cash for their charities - so three cheers from me.
Peevish......what an old-fashioned word ! Not sure of the meaning
Westhoughton John, why didn't you stay in Blackpool for a while and have some fun with the others then come back on the train instead of rushing straight home.
Having had a close look with a magnifier it looks to be that his calves are not tattooed, but something smeared on them like a black coloured salve and probably easing his aching calf muscles.
Thought to let you know that I received a lovely email from Derek Beaumont at Leigh Leopards, he loved the photo and thought the 'tattoo' comments funny.
However he was kind enough to point out that the person with the tattoo's was his brother, they commemorate two charity events:
Leigh to Newcastle for Magic Weekend 142 miles raising 40K.
Leigh to London 212 miles raising 48K.
With the Iron Man and Blackpool ride they have so far raised have raised over £30K for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. Don't you think that incredible.
Derek had much more to say in his email which pleased me, so kind of him to take his time to get back to me. Up the Leopards.
.
Crikey! What an add and judgemental discussion about what is actually a personal choice and has nothing to do with you.
Well done lads!
Workers on the fairground were covered in scribble Tattoos.
To me, Tattoos make you look dirty.
I once got a purple tattoo on my thumb hit with an hammer, after less than a week it disappeared.
Jean...peevish means a thin voice. Among other things.
ianp I just wanted to do the 100 miles and that was it being 77 years old this time maybe not get round to doing it again and couldn’t miss the football.
The word ‘ peevish’ speaks volumes…
