Grand Music
Photo: Dennis Seddon (Sony DSC-WX500)
There used to be an accordion player outside Wilkos wonder if its the same bloke?
Good picture this Colin . A bit of Venice in the middle of Wigan which will forever remind me of Melanie Sykes on the gondola with a pint of Boddingtons , ' By 'eck it's gorgeous ' .
We can't hear the player but he looks so full of soul I'm sure it's grand music indeed .
Buskers make my day especially One Man bands . Looking like giant chickens as they go through the motions of playing , who wouldn't raise a smile and chuck a bob in the hat .
Sorry , I meant Dennis ( credit)
All I can say is I hope it was worth while for him. There’s not as much ‘footfall’ in the town these days. Good luck to him.
A nice change to have a "people" p-a-d rather than a building. I remember the accordion player outside Wilko's....it was a different man but he was always very pleasant and cheerful with a smile for every passer-by.
Grand chap enjoying himself there Dennis. Can he play Teddy Bears' Picnic ?
My mates grandfather did enjoy using one of those. Fair to say he thought he could play it. Sadly his was an instrument of torture in the wrong hands. He got many requests, but that didn't stop him. Oh dear it was enough to make your ears... bleed!
I just love music being played on the street, last week a young coloured man was outside of Woolworths playing ‘dance with my father again’ on a kettle drum, it was absolutely beautiful and boy could he play it.. it lifts the soul to hear any type of music or singing on the streets and hope that it’s worth their while.
The fact that a lot of people never carry money about these days must be a nightmare for these guys.
I thought this guy was pretty good, so a made a small contribution.
If he is humping that big, heavy accordion about all day he deserves it
Does anyone still see an old friendly chap who used to play a penny whistle or a recorder(badly)and bang on a box to usually Irish music.I last saw him in Bolton a few years ago.Sorry to go of topic Dennis.
Thanks Dennis, you may have given him fame and fortune, he may be on next years BGT, or at least WGT.
There have been some good singers and musicians of late in the town centre which is uplifting, although I wish the trumpet player would choose more lively renditions, I felt quite depressed after hearing him few weeks back.
I don’t carry cash anymore to show my appreciation, only payment by card or Crypto Currency!
I wish there was no money about only cards, it will help stop drug dealers having so much cash.
For obvious reasons, you can't put so much cash in the back the branch manager would be suspicious where it came from.
One Man Band
Wired to the mains ,
Bass drum on his back
Like a human snail ,
Cymbals crashing between the knees ,
Gnawing the Harmonica
As he plays the keys ,
Pumps the Melodeon
In top hat and tails ,
Dances like a rooster
On a hot dinner plate ...
One Man Band brightening up the town ,
With your slapstick ballet
And cacophonous sound .
Poet
He only humps is accordian to his BMW 5 series car.
Colin , I only hope those people who keep cash under the bed for a rainy day ( my mam did ) know what’s going on . Not everybody is savvy with mobiles, credit cards and modern banking !
They’ll ‘ave the carpet under your feet if we’re not careful!
Thank you Poet, I wonder if we could ever see and hear the Hurdy-Girdy man performing in Wigan?
Sandra , I had dealings with a solicitor about a property transfer . We paid him £ 600 in cash ! Well, his reaction was like we had pulled a gun on him . A few weeks later he made an excuse not to proceed clearly thinking we were dodgy !
It turned out good in end as we took it upon ourselves to download all the paperwork, studied and filled in what was needed , and the so called complex thing was sorted and went through , no problem.
God knows what he would have charged us but for sure in the thousands!
We only paid the form fees and £70 for a solicitors ID witness that was required for the form .
Sincere apologies Dennis for going off your post
Tom - I've no idea what a BMW 5 series car is, but I assume it's a top-of-the-range auto - and if he can run one on the back of his income from busking in Wigan, Rishi Sunak should be consulting him on how to save the country.
