Very nice Poet, Winter and Spring, I like the then and now photos.

What a contrast Poet & both beautiful.

Two for the price of one Poet. Both are beautiful I have missed a snowy scene this Winter on here. The Cherry tree is glorious.

Perfect, Poet! Beautiful photos, both. "If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 29th April 2024 at 11:25

Poet, beautiful contrast between the two seasons and from the same spot.
I took a similar picture from the opposite side focusing on the Castellated Narthex, in fact I might have been behind the Cherry Tree!
I hope it features to compliment your lovely photo, the path alongside the church leading down to the Lych Gate on Rectory Lane is very peaceful and interesting. Thankyou.

Nice job Poet. Two interesting photos of the same place looking so different. The calendar says spring begins March 19 with the vernal equinox, but "meteorological" or "climatological" spring starts three weeks earlier, when our central heating usually gets switched off!. Brr... "Don't cast a clout till May is out". Feels like a good idea this year.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 29th April 2024 at 14:10

T.D. Are you sure this is April almost May? feels more like the day when our Poet took the snow shot!
Must be climate change for the worse, they say with global warming the North Atlantic Current which brings warm water from the tropics will collapse bringing a new Ice Age to Western Europe.
My advice, don't wear your Speedo's and don't turn your heating off just yet!

Good photo, ten yards forward , the gateway appears and the double gravestone becomes a single one.

Manchester Evening News interviewing some Weird Wiganers https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/weird-town-people-fed-up-29061420 Dennis Seddon, 73, was more of a traditionalist, saying: “I will vote Labour, although I haven’t always. I have voted Liberal Democrat in the past. But I don’t like the Tories. I don’t like what Labour are doing to the town centre, but I will still vote for them because it’s tradition.”

Great photos Poet!
No matter how early you get up whenever it has snowed in the night, there's always someone who's got there before to have been the first to have trudged through it.

With the cherry blossom my mind went back to the shoe polish brand, I'm sure they still sell it, but you never see it advertised now. Though with trainer type shoes being popular do folks still have a shoe polish tin or bag with brushes for black or brown polish and the dusters for polishing to a shine. I've never seen one as elaborate as this one that was for sale recently: https://www.etsy.com/listing/777790791/vintage-cherry-blossom-boot-polish-tin

Typical reporter, Allan, he got everything wrong including my age (77). He could have stayed at home and written that rubbish.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 29th April 2024 at 17:17

Dennis, just ignore it.
As the Royals say: Never complain, never explain, could have sworn you were only 63.
Sorry Poet for this distraction.

True what you say about the tracks in the snow Cyril . I've now got visions of nocturnal snow walkers in the moonlit graveyard .
Thanks to those who like the pictures . The tree may be seen in all it's autumnal majestic on Pad 11 November 2021 . Regards .

Colin I'm sure the snow shot by Poet has inspired to keep the home fires burning, but fear during the current economic climate, certain advice may lead to pop goes the weasel and some folk left in just their budgie smugglers!
