Wow Mark, that is an incredibly beautiful photo, that takes patience and talent.

Comment by: Mark on 31st January 2024 at 05:59

A beautiful relaxing photo, Mike.
You've taken us away from the Market Place that's frankly getting rather boring in my opinion. thank you.

Comment by: Ann on 31st January 2024 at 06:10

"Have you got some bread" please!
Absolutely fantastic and different.
We want more of these photos, it's so pleasing to the eye, calming and content.
Spring is just round the corner.
Much appreciated Mike.

I couldn't wait to see Nature photography on Photo a Day and this is one of the best.
Love it!

Comment by: Aspuller on 31st January 2024 at 06:42

I'm starving...... what you've got.
Spring is almost here and I for one, can't wait. Nice one Mike.
We have some lovely canal places, and some great walks.

Comment by: Jay on 31st January 2024 at 07:00

This make me smile and happy, a change from Wigan Town shots.
It makes me want to go out and about walking and seeing Nature.
Once the weather Bucks up, I'll be there, canal walks are lovely. Congratulations Mike, you've captured a good un.

Comment by: Nick on 31st January 2024 at 07:12

Well this makes a pleasant surprise from Wigan Market photos that are most appreciated mind you.
It's a stunning photo Mike.

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 31st January 2024 at 07:18

That is just beautiful Mike, everything about it says peace & tranquility.
I think the viewer numbers will be high as I shall look at it more than once today !

Comment by: PeterP on 31st January 2024 at 07:55

I like how the sun light is caught in the ripples behind the swan. Well captured in the photo

Comment by: Pat McC on 31st January 2024 at 08:25

Simply magnificent. The beauty and tranquility of nature. Thank you Mike.

Comment by: Veronica on 31st January 2024 at 08:42

Absolutely beautiful..it’s got everything. Glorious colours in the sky, reflections and the elegant swan.

Comment by: Garry on 31st January 2024 at 09:05

Very nice Mike, I love nature photos, they are special just like this one. Cheers.

Comment by: John G on 31st January 2024 at 09:24

Wow, at first look at this lovely photo, I thought Mick was back, well done Mike.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 31st January 2024 at 09:29

Apologies Mike, I said Mark!
I posted it very early this morning and was absolutely captivated, went sleep thinking about it with Swan Lake playing in my head.
PS where was this taken?
Photos in and around the town can be depressing but are a record of where the town is at the moment.
Your picture is both soothing and uplifting, thank you.

Comment by: Arthur on 31st January 2024 at 09:36

I like this photo very much and a nice change. Very picturesque.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 31st January 2024 at 09:46

Absolutely beautiful, and so peaceful. A wonderful photo.

Comment by: Meg on 31st January 2024 at 11:21

Breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you. How lucky you were to be in that place at that moment.

Comment by: P Stock on 31st January 2024 at 11:40

Meg, any Wiganers can be in that place at that moment with a bit of effort.
I see the same view every morning when I'm out with my dogs.

Comment by: Garry on 31st January 2024 at 12:13

The photo was taken around Poolstock area, Colin.

Comment by: mike on 31st January 2024 at 12:38

thanks for all your kind comments it was a early morning sunrise walked up from flash and over bridge photo was take a few hundred yards up

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 31st January 2024 at 13:14

I dare say that some of us that are able possibly could be in that place but that skyscape is a fleeting rarity ably captured by Mike and a joy to behold. I think the picture was taken at sunset not sunrise but I might stand corrected.

Comment by: Meg on 31st January 2024 at 13:56

P.Stock. Not any Wiganer can go to places like that. I have mobility issues and find it difficult to walk anywhere. I love P.A.D. because it takes me to places I haven't been able to visit for many years. Thank you to everyone who posts photos. Every morning I look forward to seeing where I'm off to today .

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 31st January 2024 at 13:58

Mike, you should get that printed off on canvas at a larger size, Max Spielman do a good job.
It is worthy of proudly putting on a wall.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 31st January 2024 at 15:06

Meg, at least some of us appreciate the situation of others, WW is a wonderful way of seeing what is going on and sharing our thoughts and appreciation with others.

Comment by: Tom on 31st January 2024 at 15:14

Splendid picture as always Mike

Comment by: Mike on 31st January 2024 at 15:49

@colin it was in the morning about 7.30 I took the photo. I always like to go for walks early morning around the flash area.

Comment by: Dave on 31st January 2024 at 16:31

Meg , in your situation I would suggest you watch Mick’ videos . I think , going off posts , he is unwell at the moment , but , he bikes everywhere, videos it as he rides . You can sit back and enjoy the many places and views he goes . It’s very relaxing as well . Some of his summer rides are a joy . He has done a huge selection and goes to places which don’t seem to happen on WW , like Marsh Green where I was from . Very Best Wishes to you Meg , as you say rightly , not all can go places . I wish you well .

Red sky at morning, beautifully captured Mike.

Even glass allows me,
to disturb its gentle still
but even though I try not , I know I sometimes will ..
Galleon ships and yacht things
love a troubled wind
but I just simply glide here ,
with ballet shoes my thing ..
The sky it makes its colours ,
then clouds they make their shape ,
then they join to together ,
as we just bow and gape!
Humble is a knowing !
a retrace of the soul ,
a recognising of something
more special ...
than any human goal ..

Dave, what a lovely message, I will check out what you advise.

Comment by: P Stock on 31st January 2024 at 18:35

Meg I'm the same and use a secondhand scooter to get around, I use the ramps to get on and off buses which take me all over and I'm now getting my bus rides free.

Comment by: Meg on 31st January 2024 at 18:41

Colin and Dave thank you for your replies and for suggesting Mick's videos. I'll certainly look them out,.
