Sunset
Edna, that's a beautiful scene to wake up to..thank you.
What a sunset Edna, it
looks like a pink sea, lovely !
A good honest photo of suburban life anywhere in the UK - 2/3 vehicle households, one usually a white van, bumped up on 1950s/60s streets where one car was the original norm.
The title would be good for a novel.
There’s so many ‘dramas’ going on in the sky throughout the day and the setting sun seems to be the ‘final curtain’!
Whelley's own sunset - nice one Edna - time for cocoa?
Looks like my coal fire when it needs more coal.
Lovely Edna.
Lovely photo, Edna. "Th'edge o' dark". I like to stand out in our backyard at this time, hoping to see a bat ....I love seeing them but they are so quick that if you blink you miss them.
Its a very good idea to back the vans bumper to bumper in some areas of Wigan to stop the thieves getting at your property.
Once again it looks as if my comment has been overlooked so I'll re-post. It was just to say that's a lovely photo, Edna. It's a time of day I like to stand in our back yard and watch for bats. I love seeing them....they always appear at "th'edge o'dark", but they are so fast that if you blink you miss them!
Love it!
Your film is on BBC2 this afternoon, Irene.
“Brief Encounter” just like your encounter with the bats!
This Planet is the most precious thing we have. Why are us humans so hell bent on destroying it?
Good photo Edna, the quiet at the end of another busy day. Irene, we have Barry the Bat visit our garden at dusk. The Grandkids love watching him dart in and out between the trees.
Irene and I have already got ‘roles’ in Brief Encounter Dtease, I’m Dolly who never shuts up and Irene is Laura. We are looking for a Good Doctor with a stiff upper lip and is good at getting the odd bit of grit out of her eye. Have you any ideas who that could be? We are always running for the train -at least I am..when they are running.
We need somebody for dear old Fred who does the crossword with his best suit on. Any ideas. Perhaps Ozy.. in his tin shed.
Edna Halliday? How's your Kev?
DTease, thankyou for the message about the film....I hadn't realised it was on. Veronica and I are both fans of Brief Encounter, aren't we, Dolly dear?! And you are so right about our planet. Standisher, I envy you seeing Barry The Bat regularly....your grandchildren must love seeing him.
Lovely pic Edna,well done !
Where do you live Irene in a Castle or Monastery.....bats love to roost in those buildings lol.
Edna, you've captured that sunset beautifully, the clouds are like pink flumps.
Irene, we too did have a few bats flitting around, though I didn't see them last year nor this year either, and ironically our eldest son had given me a bat box, so I'm in two minds whether to put it up or not.
Some folks don't like them and do kill them or block up where they get in and out of buildings, though they shouldn't with them being a protected species, also they don't do any harm at all and are a joy to see on a summer evening, for any info about bats see the local bat group website below.

“At the going down of the sun we will remember them”
I would make a good doctor Veronica, but I couldn’t do it sober. It’s the shaking hands and the mystic visions you understand, however, after a few strong libations my lip is as stiff as anyone’s and I can poke the eye out of any grit. Er… you may have perceived a small Fruedian slip there Veronica. No matter! I am up for the job. Doctor DTease is willing!
Er.. I hesitate to ask, but would a small advance in fees be available, Purely to obtain the necessary libation you understand?
Nurse Dolly and Nurse Laura would buy you a cup of tea and a Bath Bun in the Station Buffet, DTease.....that's all Doctor Harvey got in Brief Encounter! However, I'm sure Garry would oblige with a sherry in front of his coal fire, and Dolly and I will join you! (The mind boggles!). How DAFT are WE?? But my Mam always said that having a laugh was better than a bottle of medicine, and, wise lady that she was, she was right. Thanks to all for the "bat" information.....I never thought my mention of bats would trigger a response. Again, thankyou to Edna for a lovely photo.
I’m just about to watch the ‘Briefest of Encounters’ Dr D. I’m afraid we can’t advance a fee but a few good nips of Brandy from around the counter in the station, or a few ‘tinctures’ might do the trick to loosen the lip. We need the funds to hire the village
hall for the matinee performances. We’ve still not found a good Fred though and he’ll need a collar and tie!
Have the Bats eaten all the leaves.
Irene we always get bats in our garden, but like you say blink and you've missed them.Thank you all for comment's.
Sorry Bruce, I don't have anyone called Kev.
