Mick, can you remember when we used to go swimming at sandy bottoms.
The swing bridge has been repaired so the workmen can get their diggers across to build the river Douglas fish steps.

If the farmer kept to the weight limit for the swing bridge then it would not need repairing has much ? Modern tractors plus equipment must be heavier now than years ago?

I expect it will also come in useful for bringing machinery and material to that stretch in the project to upgrade the towpath from Wigan to Appley Bridge.

No bother bout the Kingfisher who sits and looks below ,
No bother for the swallows that fly , like only pilots know .
Lightening only glimpses ,then evening they’ll be high ,
Fighter pilots one step back ,
and watch your betters fly ..

I noticed the towpath team have set up a base in Crooke now.
