The Moorgate Inn
Lovely area Aspull and nice pub, close to Haigh Hall Country Park too, what more do you what.
Cheers Dennis.
Looks really nice, have visited here but not for a long time.
I only ever went in once when I was about 20! However, whenever we pass it in the car I always think it looks a nice pub and am glad it is still up and running. I always enjoy going through Aspull and Haigh. You're making me think of warm days, with a glass of lager and a bag of crisps in a beer garden, with all these photos of pubs, Dennis!
I suppose the name indicates the pub was built on the edge of the Moor. It’s lasted longer that the Running Horses or the Hare andHounds. It’s quite a grand building really. Looks smart anyway but I have never been inside.
It looks a bit odd to me with it having two different styles of roofs.
The Moorgate was and probably still is a great pub with great clientele,we used to frequent the Moorgate when Trevor and Anne ran it probably in the late eighties they were excellent and I spent a lot of time talking to Trevors dad who lived in Blackrod decent man.
Tom, both the roofs are the same, but the one on the left has a parapet wall front and side.
