Good one, Poet. After yesterday's photo reminding me of the last line of the poem I love , today's photo reminds me of the penultimate line...."across the purple moor there dawns another Autumn day" , (although Winter in this case!). I can just imagine the people of Standish beginning to stir and peeping through the curtains to see what sort of day it is.

SPOOKY?

Good 'un, Poet.

Looks like Standish is still asleep yet… when the sun rises over the ‘battlements’ Henry will appear again…

The sharp eyed amongst you will be able to see the road sign saying turn left at the next road if you want to go to Wigan on the A49.

The spiked dome on the parish church reminds me of the domes on the churches in Kiev, which are usually the backdrop to the news bulletins. Quite a spooky photo Poet!

Every time Ive travel through Standish in the last 12 month the St Wilfs clock has been stop on 12.00

As the sun strikes the east window
The dark interior suddenly lit
By every colour of the prism ,
Staining tudor stones in kaleidoscopic light ,
Buttering brass ; throwing lectern shadows
Down the aisle , and each cold buttress
With chrism anoints ,
While pouring diamonds into the font .

It looks very Gothic silhouetted in the sunrise.

Syd - it's awaiting repair work I believe

I’d say the aspect there is due south, if not south/south west.
I don’t think it’s “sunrise”, as such, it’s probably between 10 and 11am.?

Sydney, maybe every time you go past it is either noon or midnight, if midnight beware of those with extra long cuspid teeth and wearing cloaks.

If noon, you'll find them having a bite at Farries chippy.

The sun still send a warning ,
arches how it can,
Obey or I will destroy ,
the ignorance of man.,

Syd, the parish Church clock in Wigan has been stuck at 8.20 for weeks now..Spooky, was my first thought, when I saw this photo.

And far away across the fields
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells .

Comment by: WN1 Standisher on 1st February 2023 at 09:33

A great track and Album Floydy.

Comment by: Rev David Long on 1st February 2023 at 10:01

There's a problem with the clock repairers - Charnock Richard's clock s stopped, too.

Comment by: Pat McC on 1st February 2023 at 10:18

Floydy - What 'magic spells' would they be?

Comment by: Floydy on 7th February 2023 at 10:48

And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlit wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning ,

Comment by: John and Paul on 8th February 2023 at 21:01

' Here comes the sun , doo doo doo doo
Here comes the sun , and I say
It's alright '

Comment by: Cat on 8th February 2023 at 23:03

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day .
